Make skilled advice work for you.

Whether you're building, renovating, repairing, or just need help understanding a quote. Get advice from an Aussie tradie without the call out fee, a short video call can be all you need to get the job done yourself.

A little advice can make a big job feel small.

  • Ready to build

Building a home can be daunting when you have to take your builders word for every stage and mishap

  • Renovations

Renovating your kitchen? There can be a lot to juggle between cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, and tiling.

  • Repairs

Getting around to those minor repairs can take longer than you’d like. Not sure if you should call a tradie or roll up your sleeves?

  • Reviewing quotes

It can be hard to know how to judge whether a quote is fair and what you should be looking out for.

So how does it work?

There are three simple steps. You can access Old Mates Advice whenever you need through Messenger or Whatsapp where we understand a bit about what you’re in need of advice for. We line up one of our trade professionals, and then we send you a video link. Pretty simple really.

Three easy steps

  • 1. Send us a message

Send us a message on Whatsapp or Messenger and we’ll work out the type of problem you have and the best trade expert for the job. We’ll then share a payment link to cover roughly how long you think you’ll need before we line up a time that suits you for a video call.

  • 2. Jump on our video platform

We’ll send you a video call link which you can take on your mobile or on desktop, but we recommend on mobile so you can show our trade expert the job like they’re there with you in the room.

  • 3. Get all the advice you need

Spend as little or as long as you like to get what you need out of your trade expert, our calls are only $2 per minute. We only charge for the time that you use so if you pay for a 15 minute block and only spend 12 minutes, then you’ll only be charged for 12 minutes.

Trusted advice at a handy price.

We believe everyone should get a fair go. Why pay $100 for a call out fee when a short video call can do the job?

At $3,50 a minute, getting an unbiased opinion from a qualified trade professional is worth its weight in gold.

Choose from 15min, 30min, or 45min video call options but only ever pay for the time that you need.

Google search results for 'average call out fee for an electrician.' It mentions in Australia, fees range from $50 to $150, with most fees between $80 and $130. Additional details include fee variations by location and higher fees for emergency services.
